Description

Technology is rapidly transforming the way we live and work. Covid-19 has accelerated the delivery of unprecedented change across industries, which would not have survived without adapting.

This June, Speakers for Schools will launch Predict ‘21: Future Careers to shine a light on the opportunities that technology can bring.

GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway) would like to take this opportunity to give you an insight into the railway and share with you what we are doing in the transport industry. We have several functions within our organisation dedicated to using developing technology to support our customers, our staff and our train services.

The 2-hour session will kick off with Aidan Shanahan, Head of IT introducing the team and the role they play within the organisation. Gordon Rampling, GTR’s IT Operations Manager will then give us an insight to what Information Technology means at GTR. We will then learn about the impact of Covid and meet Markus Balogun, one of our support engineers and how he started his role.

We will then move onto our Engineering Function and hear from Tom Jerome, Apprentice Development Manager who will talk to us about the Rail Engineering Apprenticeship. We will also learn about how Covid impacted the way he worked along with meeting a few apprentices from the team and how they started their career.

The session will finish with a live Q&A and a few closing words from Dante Frederick, Diversity & Inclusion Partner. So please have any burning questions ready!

If you want to hear more from GTR’s Engineering & IT Functions, learn about our projects and see what our staff are getting up to, join us on the 24th of June from 10am till 12pm. Please use the link to sign up!
